How often do you call?

How often do you call?

The Lord is near to all who call upon him, to all who call upon him in truth (Psalm 145:18, RSV).

Calling upon God brings His presence near to us, but not everyone realizes this. At times, it feels like God has abandoned us and is millions of miles away. But the Bible says that God’s Holy Spirit abides with His children forever (John 14:16). With that, we see that God desires to be closer to us than we realize it.

When a man stops calling on God, it is evident that spiritual pride has set in. It makes him take spiritual things for granted. Eventually, he loses the sense of God’s presence. By neglecting his fellowship with God through active praying and deep study of the word of God, he loses his guard against sin and becomes carnal.

The Bible in James 4:6 counsels us on what to do at such a time: ‘Draw close to God, and God will draw close to you…’ In other words, when you make God your priority, you will discover that He is actually closer to you than you think. In today’s opening text, we see that if anyone needs help feeling God’s presence, he should begin by calling upon him. The Lord is near to all who call upon him, to all who call upon him in truth.

Philippians 4:6,7 also shows that if you learn to call on God and commit things to Him in prayers, a deep sense of God’s presence in the form of supernatural peace will fill your heart. This presence will give you the strength to help you through difficult times and lead you into ultimate victory. I pray: receive the grace to pray until you secure divine presence and uncommon testimonies. In Jesus mighty name!
