How sure are you?
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. (Isaiah 55:8, KJV).
God’s ways are unpredictable. His ways are higher than our assumptions! There was an officer of the king of Israel who assumed that even if God should open the windows in heaven, food would never become as cheap and as prophet Elisha had prophesied. Unfortunately, he paid dearly with his life for that assumption! (See II Kings 7).
There was also a man who assumed that after 38 years of handicap, his situation could never change for good. But that was not after God visited him (See John 5:1-9). Some folks assumed that Jesus, being a very busy person, would not have time for a wretched, blind man like Bartimaeus. But it was all an assumption (See Mark 10:46-52).
Peter assumed that if he didn’t catch any fish all-night, there was no need trying during the day. But when he tried, his assumption was shattered! (Luke 5:3-9). It is wrong assumption that makes us believe that something negative cannot turn around. God said in His words said that He will do a new thing. He will make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert (Isaiah 43:19). That simply means He will do the impossible!
Dear friend, your negative assumptions are not pleasing to God. Prayerfully you can actually expect to be free from one level of wrong assumption to another through the help of the Holy Spirit. Natural men are ruled by wrong assumptions but spiritual ones are led by the Holy Spirit. I pray, receive the grace to walk by faith, and not by assumptions. In Jesus mighty name!
