How to Effectively Tell Someone About Jesus

Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”

The Gospel of is the most powerful thing that Jesus handed down to us before He ascended into heaven.

You might want to ask yourself what the sole purpose of us being Christians is. It’s to get the world to hear and experience the power of the gospel of Jesus which saves, redeems and sets free from every sin and captivity. I know, some of us, do not really understand the place we occupy as believers and the responsibilities that are tied to being a christian. Christ didn’t just save us so we could get comfortable enjoying all of His goodness and blessings. No, He did so we could reach out to those heading towards hell with the gospel.

The gospel of Christ that was delivered us is like a baton in a relay race. You hand it to the next person God leads you to. The only difference is that, the baton is inexhaustible and you don’t stop running yourself. The race set before us is an unending one. We can only rest when we get to the finish line (our journey on earth here ends, either by virtue of death or rapture).

Who Are Those Called to Preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ?

When the above question is asked, many think it’s the responsibility of the Pastors, Bishops, Apostles, etc to preach the gospel but the truth remains that every believer can actually and should preach the gospel, however and wherever we can.

Tips on How to Effectively Preach the Gospel of Jesus

Perhaps, some of these tips could be of help to those shying away from telling someone of God’s saving grace.

You can successfully preach the gospel of Jesus when you:

  1. Get Adequately Acquainted with God’s Word

One of the reasons, we most times, develop cold feet when God presents us an opportunity to tell someone about Jesus, is because we feel we would probably have nothing meaningful to say. But if you’re conversant with God’s word then this shouldn’t be a problem at all. Hence, if you desire to be able to tell someone about Jesus, you just need to feed daily on his word. You’ll only be able to give out God to another when you’re full of Him.

        2.  Pray Your Way to Boldness

Another major challenge many believers face is that of shyness. But I can tell you that, that can be totally defeated in the place of prayer.

2 Timothy 1:7, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

      3.  Take the Bold Step Even When You Don’t Feel Ready

You should take the bold step to introduce Jesus to someone even if you probably feel unsure or inadequate about your ability to actually do it. It could be to a colleague at work or a neighbour from just gisting randomly. It’s important to note that, this is one assignment that God always backs up instantly. All we need to do, is to just lunge out in faith. He’ll take care of the rest. This includes, filling your mouth with the right message.

The first time I spoke to someone about Jesus was as a teenager. I didn’t know what I was going to say when I decided to head out with church members on evangelism that day. Nevertheless, I encouraged myself and went for it and I was glad that I did. I was practically filled with an unspeakable joy by the time we were through.

     4.  Practice Preaching to an Imaginery Person or Audience in Your Closet

This has always helped in any kind of public speaking practice. Preaching the gospel of Jesus isn’t an exception. It wouldn’t be wrong to feign you’re talking to someone or people about Jesus in front of a mirror, in your closet. You’d see yourself get better overtime as you constantly practice this technique, if you’re an introvert and can’t possibly stand in front of a crowd for any reason.
