The God of Grace

Titus 2:11,”For the grace of God (His unmerited favor and blessing) has come forward (appeared) for the deliverance from sin and the eternal salvation for all mankind.”

There are perhaps, many who feel they deserve every good thing they get in life maybe because they work hard or for whatever reason. But the truth is, every good gift in life comes through the grace of God, not because we are deserving of them.

God is the God of grace because He is gracious and extends His grace (His unmerited favor) towards us in innumerable ways.

James 1:16-17 “Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”

In reality, the truth is we all deserve hell because we have all sinned and fallen short of God’s glory far too many times than we can possibly count. Nevertheless, our God being full of grace is not keen about treating us according to our sins. Instead, He blesses us with the good things of life and He goes a step further in offering us eternal life through faith in His Son, Jesus.

Ephesians 1:7 “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.”

Can a Sinner Enjoy God’s Grace?

Mathew 5:45b “for He makes His sun rise on the wicked and on the good, and makes the rain fall upon the upright and the wrongdoers [alike].”

Yes, a sinner receives what is known as “Common Grace”. But this is perhaps, the only grace that’s available to sinners. Through the common grace, God provides the general blessings that are available to both believers and unbelievers alike. An example is the sun and the rain. These, He makes everyone to enjoy, regardless of what our stand in the faith is.

Still under the common grace, God withholds His anger and judgment upon the sinners, giving them time to repent and be saved.

Additionally, a sinner gets to enjoy God’s unlimited blessings made available through His grace when he surrenders to God in repentance.

4 Things God’s Grace Does for You

     1. God’s grace forgives you of your Sins

Note, the keyword “all”, not some of your sins but all, because Jesus paid the complete price at the cross. Therefore, for you out there, who probably feels your sins are so overwhelming that you think God won’t forgive you; you’re very mistaken.

Ephesians 1:7 says, “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.”

  2.  God’s grace makes you free from the bondage and penalty of sin

Through God’s grace, you don’t have to suffer from the burden of the sins you carried before you accepted Jesus into your life as your Lord and Saviour. This is God’s grace working with His love, completely making you free from all former charges brought by sin.

John 8:36 “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”

    3.  God’s Grace transforms completely

You are forgiven at the point of repentance and changed into God’s likeness.

Ezekiel 11:19 says, “I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.”

In addition to God’s forgiveness and total spiritual transformation, a new heart is added to the transformation. Max Lucado calls it “a spiritual heart transplant”. Have you ever wondered why someone who was known as a terrible sinner would repent and become a totally different person? God provided a brand new heart and took away the one accustomed to sin.

    4.  God’s grace blesses

It literally delivers all the good and perfect/free gifts from God into the hands of undeserving sinners like us. Yes, everyone of us have sinned and by right are not deserving of any of God’s blessings. But His graces will always be His grace. God just can’t help but bless us. It’s His nature to love and be gracious to those who sincerely love Him.
