Juries

Juries Juries

“You judge by human standards; I pass judgment on no one” – (John 8:15; NIV).

Judging others come naturally to us. The only surprising truth is that we feel bad when the same thing is done to us. I have seen that people who love to pull others down with their words usually do not take it lightly with anyone who does the same thing to them. So, if we know that judging others hurts their feelings, why do we do it? In fact, it’s as if some people derive a special sense of satisfaction after attacking the reputation of another fellow.

The word of God says, “Stop judging others, and you will not be judged.” (Mathew 7:1, NLT). The opposite is also true: “Continue judging others; and you will be judged. The Bible went further to say that “Whatsoever measure you use in judging, it will be used to measure how you are judged. People tend to overlook and excuse their own faults but over-emphasize others’ wrongs. Some people act like they had been waiting for a fellow to make a mistake going by the way they ‘crucify’ him afterwards. But the sad thing is that they don’t have the real knowledge of what led to what.

Each time you judge others, Jesus said you are like a person who has a log in his eye but keeps worrying about a speck in a friend’s eye. How can you say to your friend, “let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye” , when you can’t see past the log in your own eye? That some people don’t want a fellow to hear what they said behind his back shows that they know that what they are doing is actually not right.

Dear reader, before you start pointing out anything that is wrong with a person; consider everything that is not right about you first. A woman was caught in adultery. Yet Jesus said He didn’t condemn her and that she could go and sin no more, whereas a jury of judges was already set to stone her to death.

Have you ever asked yourself: ‘Who made me a judge over another fellow?’ Judging others wrongly invites God’s judgment upon you. Watch your words and mind who you speak against. May we not bring a harsh judgment upon ourselves through a judgmental spirit. In Jesus name!

Today’s Corporate Prayer: O Lord, turn us to Yourself, and we shall be restored. Renew our days as of old. In Jesus mighty name!
