Obedience unto holiness

Obedience unto holinessObedience unto holiness

Acts 26:19 “Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision.”

God has called us unto holiness, and it takes obedience to really follow the Lord in holiness of heart and life. It is sacrificing everything that is a hindrance or an impediment, just so you can obey the call to live a holy life. This takes the grace of God, and inward motivation of the heart by the Spirit of God to say, yes to holiness no matter the cost.

Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD. They keep his testimonies, and seek him with their whole heart. They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.” These are those who have washed their robes in the blood of the Lamb, and are committed to leading holy lives in obedience to the heavenly vision.

As Christians who have our eyes fixed on getting to heaven, we are bent holiness standard, and we are to obey it to the climax. Certainly, there will be some persons who may want to stand as bottlenecks, they may want to impede your progress and maturity in obedience to holiness. They’ll say, you’re too serious, you’re too fanatical about holiness, you’re too religious about it, you’re this, and you’re that.

But if you’re like that, I want to encourage, continue. Don’t mind their unfriendly dispositions. Don’t mind their conspicuous conspiracies, don’t mind their reactions. Rather, lift up your hands to the LORD and say, “with my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. Thy word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against thee.”

And as you continue in obedience unto holiness of heart and life, the LORD who is rich in mercy and grace, will anchor you.

Flee from sin, and let go of anything that will take holiness away from you. Obey holiness, no matter how injurious, inconvenient, the assignment, task, or duty may be. When the LORD will come and find you faithfully walking in all his precepts as to holiness of heart and life, he will reward you. For only those who heartily obey holiness till the end, will be commended.

You might be inquisitive, what’s this holiness we are to obey? It is the whole fundamental truth of the holy scriptures: “Earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” And following peace and holiness without which no man shall see the Lord.”
