Practical Holiness

Practical HolinessPractical Holiness

Mathew 3:8 “Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance.”

God has called us to a life of holiness, and he expects us to walk daily and live the life of scriptural holiness. But understand this, it isn’t only theoretically in the heart, but there should be demonstration. “For as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.”

We aught to practice holiness, because the scripture says, “let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous, because we know everyone that doeth righteousness is born of him. Therefore whosever is born of God doth not commit sin. Any sin at all. He cannot sin because the seed of God remaineth in him.

This then is the message, God is light and in him there is no darkness at all. If we say we are in fellowship with the Father and walk in darkness we lie, and do not the truth. The essence of our being born again is to serve him in holiness. A promise made to our fathers which was fulfilled in Christ Jesus, “that he might grant unto us that we being delivered out of the hands our enemies might serve him without fear, in holiness and righteousness before him all the days of our lives.

Therefore today, we are called to scriptural practical holiness. Walking in the light as he is in the light. The light of humility to the sovereignty of God, total obedience to the commandments of God, perfect perpetual love for God and his word, having spiritual innocence before him, being nurtured by the Spirit of God, enduring affliction for his sake, sacrificially giving to his work, and set apart for his sacred use.

Hence, I need you to understand that this holiness is practical. There are people who will disdain it, and make it feel as if it is strange to hear about practical holiness. But as a believer, we are all called to follow in the footsteps of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, who was an epitome of the heavenly pattern of undeniable, truthful, transparent, holiness.

If we do other things, get involved in all kinds of spiritual activities and exercises without this greatest treasure of the bible demonstrated practically in our lives as we sojourn in this strange country, we may not make it to heaven. The word of God still stands sure, and forever settled in heaven. “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.”
