Resistance

ResistanceResistance

‘Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you’ (James 4:7, KJV).

God is a righteous God. He is not evil and will not be a party to it. Every form of wickedness around the life of man is of the devil. The devil knows he has a short time left, that’s why he’s unleashing his angriest wickedness upon the earth. But he can only try; he cannot overcome God’s true children.

There are two wrong approaches to the issue of the devil. The first approach is to believe that one should do nothing about the devil. This approach is unrealistic because it doesn’t stop the devil from fighting one. The second approach is to believe that there is someone else who will handle the devil for you.

People who have this belief constantly search for “anointed” men of God who can cast the devil off for them once and for all. But for a long term victory over the devil, one needs to develop his spirit man to the point where he can exercise lasting dominion over the enemy.

Once you become a true child of God, the devil sees you as a special target. And the command we have is to resist him. “The Bible says to resist the devil…” James 4:7. To resist is to withstand and oppose him. It is to counter his works and actions. But we can’t do this effectively as long as we have a stronger faith in the ‘power’ of the devil than in developing our spirit man. As far as God is concerned, the devil flees when we truly resist him.

To resist him, we must submit ourselves to God first (See the opening text). We also need to draw closer to God so that He can also draw closer to us. We need to purify our hearts and stop speaking evil of one another (See James 4:7-11). We compulsorily need to become a prayer and Word addict. Dear reader, power belongs to God (Psalm 62:11) and that power has been vested on Jesus (Mathew 28:18). Jesus too transferred this power to us (Luke 10:19). With this power, we can resist the devil and he will flee. May we be ready to connect to his power today and always. In Jesus name!

Today’s Corporate Prayer: I receive the divine fire to disgrace my disgrace. In the mighty name of Jesus!
