Simple but superordinary

…And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age (Mathew 28:20, NIV).

The Lord is with us but many Christians still seek Him everywhere. They seek everywhere Someone who is right with them. How startling! By nature, humans are usually more attracted to the spectacular than to the regular. That’s the more reason why many Christians miss divine visitations. They expect God to come in through the door but He has already come in through the ceiling, so to say.

There are others too who are seeking for some miracles not realizing that they ought to simply seek the God of miracles. They have no time for personal prayer life but have time to go from programme to programme praying on oil, water, coconut, honey, broom and so on. It’s not wrong to attend sound prayer programmes but personal relationship with God must be our priority. Until one is close to Him, he won’t know that God moves many times where or when we think things look too ordinary for His move.

Have you noticed that it is easy for people to ignore true salvation in Christ or simple faith in God’s word just because it does not require any form of payment or efforts? The word of God simply says if you believe in your heart and confess Jesus with your mouth, you are saved (Rom. 10:9,10). To many people, that’s too simple to make any difference. But if someone could tell them their mother’s name, or what they ate last night, they would believe him. They can buy a bottle of olive oil from him for N20,000 even though they don’t bother to pay their tithes in obedience to God’s word. Most people find it difficult to see the involvement of God in anything that doesn’t thrill, excite, perplex or exert them!

Some Jews didn’t believe in Jesus in His days because many things about Him were too simple to make the common man think He is the Saviour of the world. He was born in a stable and didn’t descend from heaven with angelic escorts and loud sirens. He grew up, dressed and spoke the same language every one spoke. He ate, drank, got tired, slept and did everything like humans. So people who were looking for the spectacular didn’t get the revelation of who He was. Only people with simple faith did!

Dear friend, God has revealed how He can be found in His words. Stop seeking Him where He cannot be found. If you open your heart to Him, right there where you are, He will reveal Himself to you. All you need do is to simply believe. He shall locate you today. In Jesus mighty name!
