Sure Security

Sure Security

The earth is the LORD’S and the fullness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein (Psalm 24:1, KJV).

Insecurity. That’s the reason why people pile up money and property, thinking the more they have the more secure they are. You remember the story of the rich fool? His fertile farm produced fine crops, so he said to himself: ‘I’ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones. Then I’ll have room enough to store everything. And I’ll sit back and say to myself, My friend you have enough stored away for years to come. Now take it easy! Eat, drink and be merry!’ But God said to him, ‘You fool! You will die this very night’… (Luke 12:16-21, NLT).

Having money is good, but when you allow money to have you, it breeds trouble. When all your focus is on earthly things, it is the beginning of failure and misery. We tend to think: ‘I worked for it, so it’s mine’. But everything actually belongs to God. He said that the silver and the gold belongs to Him (Haggai 2:8,9). Money and possessions don’t bring security, but they have become some people’s undoing. They keep piling possessions upon possessions. They fail to realize that the more things a person ‘has’, the more things he has to lose.

Many folks who passed the test of adversity didn’t pass that of prosperity. God is not against prosperity. That’s why the Bible says he ‘….gives us richly all things to enjoy’ (I Tim. 6:17). But we should know why God blesses people. He blesses us so that we can enjoy his blessings, and to invest the blessings in establishing His kingdom on the earth (Matthew 6:33). When we become kingdom-minded; God, rather than the ephemeral things of this world, becomes the purpose of our living. And that’s when we have true security! I pray, may you not build your life on the foundation of vanity. In Jesus name!

Today’s corporate prayer: The pursuit of earthly needs will not steal my salvation and commitment to the Lord from me. In the name of Jesus!
