The fighting spirit

The fighting spirit

And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, Protect and defend me and give me justice against my adversary (Luke 18:3, AMP).

There are some things that will never come to us without our determination, doggedness and tenacity. The importance of fighting on, even in spiritual matters, cannot be over emphasized.

We tend to want to stop after a season of prayer, if the answers to our prayers don’t seem to be coming. Our biggest weakness lies in giving up. To succeed in anything we need persistence. We have to decide exactly what we want in life; and then pray and pursue it until we get it!

Our Lord Jesus showed us ‘…that men ought always to pray and not faint’ (Luke 18:1, KJV). Apostle Paul too urged us to ‘Pray without ceasing’ (I Thesalonians 5:17, KJV). Therefore, persistence means that you pray as if everything depends on God; and to pursue courageously as if everything depends on you.

Some answers to our prayers come quite fast while a few may require some time, depending on whatever was already at stake. There are times that God wants to work on us before the answer to our prayers can come. There are also other times that He wants to build our spiritual muscles through certain circumstances.

No matter what is happening, persist that you won’t give up until God is through with you and your blessings appear. I pray; may you not faint in the days of adversity. In Jesus name!

Today’s corporate prayer: Every wrong attitude to prayer and fasting in my life and among the saints; wither. In Jesus mighty name!
