The great cost of careless neglect

The great cost of careless neglectThe great cost of careless neglect

Hebrews 2:3 “How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him.”

Here comes the question again: how shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation? You may not be outrightly rejecting it, but you are neglecting it. You may even be talking to other people about salvation, but you don’t have it. You may know all the biblical verses concerning the prophecy and fulfilment of salvation in Christ, but you’re still saying, by and by I’ll get it later; NEGLECT!

Our Lord spoke about salvation, the Apostles of Christ also spoke about it: “Great salvation from Christ.” Come to think of it, some people know the truth, they are in denominations that preach the totality of God’s word; yet, you find out that these people are still playing religion, they are still playing church. Despite the fact that some of them were born in the church, there’s still no evidence of real conversion in them.

They hear about repentance, salvation, restitution, righteousness, holiness in almost every message, yet they still neglect these. They are just indifferent: practically atheists! These people are there as church goers with head knowledge of the Bible without it being practically displayed in their lives.

Some also hear about sanctification, they hear about holiness without which, no man shall see the Lord. Yet, they will never want to have an experience of it. They neglect, and think it is not important. They hear about modesty: dressing decently to cover ub properly yet they neglect it. They hear about constancy, commitment, and consecration, as a pledge of allegiance as we journey to heaven, yet they negate it.

They think God is not serious about all these. These people think they can enter heaven through the vain assurance of their own carnal mind. These people are not interested in the things of God.

Evangelism, no, soul-winning, no, sacrificial giving, no, holiness, no, contending for the faith, no. They so much love the world that they only wear religion, but they neglect the “real thing.” And some people” do not see the superficiality of these people. They profess love for God, but deep down in their hearts, they are none of his as prophesied by prophet Isaiah.

They’ve been going to church for so many years, yet no salvation. They belong to this or that unit in the church, yet there’s no genuine conversion if you really check. There are just running a religious rat race.

STOP!!! You are running too fast and out of track. The world is too much embedded in your soul. You see too much of the world, and fancy the lifestyle of the world. Ambition and certificate is taking away righteousness from you. Money is eating up your very heart, and the things of this world are becoming your life.

HEAR THIS: After all the sunday worship services, after all the bible studies you’ve attended, after all the revival hours, after all the all-night prayers, after all the retreats and conferences, after all the counselling and admonitions, after all the speaking in tongues; if you miss heaven there’s no return from hell once you are there.

Think about it; to spend five minutes in hell, inside the burning lake of fire will be unbearable. To spend one hour, to spend one day, to spend one year, to spend a hundred years, a thousand years, a million years, forever and ever. Why do you want to throw your heart and your life away? why do you want to spend eternity with Satan in hell? God forbid! Turn around. Make your way right with God ere it be too late. Push aside too much familiarity with what you read; but make practical response to it.

There is a great cost for careless neglect.
