What do you stand for?

What do you stand for?

There was a lot of discussion about him among the crowds. Some said, “He’s a wonderful man,” while others said, He’s nothing but a fraud, deceiving the people (John 7:12, NLT).

I have read and heard lots of comments about great men of God. News about them attracts different reactions. If you were to go by the way they are honoured and esteemed, you will feel they have nothing bothering them at all. On the other hand, if you hear the negative things some people say about some great servants of God, you could be tempted to think that nobody on the surface of this earth likes them.

In the times when Jesus was physically here on the earth, things were not too different. There were different beliefs about Him. While a group of people believed that He was a good and wonderful man and so esteemed Him highly; another group saw in Him a fraud who was misleading and deceiving the people. Obviously, controversy about influential people is not something new. And as it was then, so it is now.

Though Jesus was on a divine mission, faithful to God and helping helpless folks, He had a lot of issues with the Pharisees, Sadducees and other religious leaders of his day. They were always planning and conspiring against Him. Friend, if it was impossible for Jesus to be liked by all, it may be difficult if not impossible for you to get everyone to like or believe in you. Not everybody can stand the fact that you stand for something they don’t stand for.

Dear reader, it’s important to stand for something and not just anything but something that has God’s approval. If you don’t stand for something you will fall for everything. Be courageous enough not to be moved by misconceptions about you. Criticisms and antagonisms are unavoidable parts of life. Just keep going on with your vision and mission and making adjustments where needed. I pray; may we reach our divinely-ordained destination. In Jesus mighty name!

Today’s corporate prayer: I stand against every form of distraction and discouragement working against me. In the mighty name of Jesus!
