Whose son are you?

Whose son are you?

Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the Sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God (John 5:18, KJV).

The Bible says in I Corinthians 1:3 that ‘Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ’. Some of us don’t understand God’s fatherhood and our manifold blessings as his children. They treat God as the Almighty, All-powerful, and the All-sufficient, but not as father.

During his time on the earth, Jesus had problems with the religious leaders of His day because they never saw God as their father. It was like a blasphemy that Jesus kept referring to himself as the Son of God (See John 5:18). Really, no one knows the Father but the Son, and he to whom the Son reveals the Father (See Matthew 11:27).

Unlike the Old Testament, the New Testament is more emphatic about the fact that God is our father. In fact, Jesus taught us to refer to God as our father (See Matthew 6:9). God is the best father one can think of. He cares for you more than any earthly father cares for his child. God loves everyone, including you (See John 3:16).

Until you realize that God is your father and that he loves and cares for you, you will be moved by everything and by what everyone says about you or does to you. But once it becomes clear to you that He is your father; your worries, anxieties, and fears will give way.

You’ll just get confident that he’s working things out for your good even in the face of oppositions and difficulties. And He is! All we will just need to do is to grow up spiritually so that He can entrust us with more blessings than we desire. I pray, May you find the grace to see Him as your father. In Jesus name!

Today’s corporate prayer: O Lord, help me to see You as my Father and relate with You like You truly are. In the mighty name of Jesus!
