Abounding always in the work of the Lord

Abounding always in the work of the LordAbounding always in the work of the Lord

1 Corinthians 15:58 “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”

Herein, Apostle Paul, encouraging the saints at Corinth to continue in their service to the Lord, and not be weary of whatever challenges, affliction, or persecution they might be going through; but to be determined and focused that they might finished their course with joy. Having an assurance that their labour in Christ will not be in vain. As the scripture says “For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.”

The LORD is saying to faithful Christians to continue in well doing, regardless of whether your works are being taken notice of, or not. Our Lord said through apostle John to his ministers saying, “I know thy works.” This should be a source of joy, and encouragement to faithful, committed believers, to daily continue in the works of the Lord, and strive to overcome challenges unto the end.

It is certain discouragement will come, even from those who are together with us in the same commission. They may retire, they may become perfidiousness, and even belittle our commitment, afflictions and difficulties. But know this that “Our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.”

If you’ve started reducing your commitment and fervor, increase it! For God is keeping record of your sincere, holy, affectionate, commitment you have for him and his work. John Wesley consoled his ministers, he reminded them, “Unless God has raised you up for this very thing, you will be worn out by the opposition of men and devils. But if God be for you, who can be against you? Are all of them together stronger than God? O be not weary of well doing!

Lastly, I say this to you, continue! Jesus says, continue, I am coming very soon, by and by. May the LORD find us faithful, and meet us at the very point of our duty post.
