Borrowed

Borrowed Borrowed

The wicked borrow and never repay…’ (Psalms 37:21, NLT).

When someone lends you a thing, it’s important to take good care of it, because it is borrowed. When one loses an important personal item, it is bad enough. When something you borrowed is lost, it is a double tragedy.

At first, the reason for borrowing the item was that you don’t have it. If you now lose it, you’ll need to buy a new one, which still won’t be yours. Such a scenario is pitiable indeed and that’s the situation of some folks. I pray that the Lord will locate and help them. In Jesus name!

Borrowing is not a strange thing in our world. In fact, no man can claim he’s not a borrower. It’s lack of the knowledge of this truth that makes people conduct themselves wrongly.

For example, our life is a borrowed one. A man’s farm produced a bountiful harvest. So he built bigger barns and said to himself: “My friend, you have enough stored away for years to come…Eat, drink and be merry!” But God said to him, “You fool! You will die tonight.” He realized too late that his life was borrowed (See Luke12:16-21).

Another borrowed thing is money. The original owner of money is God. He said: “The silver is mine, and the gold is mine…” (Haggai 2:8). No matter how much money we have, God lent it to us.

Another thing we borrowed is our body. The body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. We are to glorify God with our body, and in our spirit, which are God’s (See I Cor. 6:19,20). Fornication or adultery is a sin to the real owner of our body. It defiles the temple of the Holy Spirit to eat or drink anything that is dedicated to any idol. There are times and places where it is unsafe to eat. Making tattoos on the body or dressing immodestly also shows that we don’t understand that our body does not really belong to us, but borrowed.

If something is in your custody that doesn’t belong to you, you want to handle it with great care. But we don’t seem to apply that to the fact that we don’t own our life. Our money is borrowed. Our body is borrowed. Our talents, gifts, abilities and even children are borrowed.

Dear friend, when it is time to return all that we have borrowed, shall we be commended for heaven or condemned to hell? I pray; May God give us the wisdom to be wise managers of God’s resources kept in our care. In Jesus name!

Today’s Corporate Prayer: Vanity and purposelessness; I reject you in my life forever. In the mighty name of Jesus!
