Fiery furnace
‘The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. They will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth’ (Matt.13:40, 41, NIV).
A farmer planted good seed in his field. But when everyone went to sleep, his enemy sowed weeds among the wheat and slipped away. When the wheat sprouted the weeds showed up too. His servants reported the situation to him and asked if they should pull out the weeds. He disallowed them because they would pull out the wheat too in the process. “Let them grow together until harvest time”, he said, “Then I will tell the harvesters to sort out the weeds and burn them and put the wheat in the barn” (See Mt. 13:24-30).
That was a parable that Jesus told the crowd who came to listen to Him. Later He explained it to His disciples. Jesus Himself was that farmer and the field represented the world. The people of the kingdom are the seed while the weeds are those who belong to the devil, who was the enemy who planted the weeds among the seed.
God’s and Satan’s children are mixed up in the world. We all are growing together. Many people have wondered why God allows the wicked to continue in their wickedness when He can eliminate them. Others have asked why God does nothing about sinners who are prospering. Well, the harvest time will come and an end will come to all wickedness. God’s angels will remove anything and anyone that is evil. They will be thrown into the fiery furnace where people will weep and gnash their teeth (Matt. 13:40, 41).
Are you a person who doesn’t believe in the hell fire teaching? Do you assume that once a person dies, that’s the end of his existence? Do you think that when a man dies at a place, he is reincarnated and starts living as another person in another part of the world? Do you suppose that a man who dies can come back to the world in another form of life like a fish, monkey, python or any animal at all? No matter what any man chooses to believe, the word of God cannot be changed.
If there’s no hell fire, we are free to live our lives as we choose to. But if there is, we have to prepare to escape it by giving our lives to Jesus and following His words obediently. There’s a great need to watch out for sins that could disqualify us from heaven, repent of them and receive God’s grace to overcome them. He that has ears let him hear God’s word when there is still grace. May God’s grace empower our willingness to obey. In Jesus name!
