Timely intervention

Timely intervention

‘…Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid’ (Matt. 14: 27, KJV).

Jesus wanted His disciples to go to the other side of a sea ahead of Him. Their boat was already a good distance from land when the wind came up against them. It was seriously battered by the waves. Despair set in as they did their best to prevent their boat from sinking. Amidst that trouble, someone started coming to them, walking on the water! That they were terrified is an understatement. Jesus knew how frustrated they were. So He spoke to them: “Be of good cheer; it is I be not afraid”.

The best voice to hear when you are troubled is the voice of Jesus. But most people listen to the voice of their storm. Many are so disillusioned in their problems that when their help is coming they see it as another burden or trouble. Some people are really in the midst of fierce storms with no one to call for help. Everyone they counted on had let them down. Some people are facing financial storms while others are confronted by marital or ministerial storms.

Some of the disciples could have started getting angry with Jesus and probably reasoned that if indeed He was a powerful prophet, how could he tell them to cross to the other side without knowing that that type of calamity would befall them? Well, that leads us into an important lesson. That Jesus led you into something doesn’t mean that there won’t be challenges in it. You may feel abandoned. But when you think you have come to your wits’ end, God manifests Himself in a wonderful way.

Are you down in your spirit due to your circumstances? Expect divine intervention if you are where God wants you to be. The devil will make it look like all things have fallen apart for you. He always wants you to give up on your faith. He would do His best to confuse you and invade you with doubts and discouragement. But you must hold on to your faith and listen to Jesus for strength. I pray that the Lord will calm every raging storm around you. In Jesus Christ mighty name!

Today’s Corporate Prayer: O Lord, deliver me from the storm raging against my marriage (or academics, finances, ministry, work, business, etc). In Jesus mighty name!
