Following Christ in the narrow way to heaven

Following Christ in the narrow way to heavenFollowing Christ in the narrow way to heaven

1 Peter 2:21 “For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps.”

Our Lord Jesus Christ has called everyone who is willing to follow him should pick up his cross, deny himself, and follow him. The LORD is calling us through this message to check our lives; are we truly following the LORD in the narrow path? Because straight is the gate and narrow is the way that leadeth to life, and few be that go there in.

The road that does not accept sin, the road that does not accept hypocrisy, the road that does not accept the love of the world and it’s worldliness, the road that does not accept immorality, the road that does not accept disobedience to God’s word, the road that does not accept secret sin, the road that does not accept idolatry, the road that rejects self will, but rebukes, chastises, and corrects, its passengers.

Brethren, are you still on that way? Many therefore of his disciple, when they heard it said, this is an hard saying, who can hear it? and the scripture tells us that from that time, many of his disciples walked with him no more.

Have you turned back against the LORD because the straight gate strikes against the precious things that you desire? Have you turned back because the road signs are the signs of holiness and righteousness? Have you turned back from the way because the way is against your corrupt and defiling practices?

My friend, following Christ is not as easy as you think it is. The servant is not above his Master. Christ Jesus is our mighty captain, and the bishop of our soul. He alone can decide the do’s and don’t of the passengers that are journeying on the straight narrow road to heaven. And the LORD has spoken to us that anyone that is really going to survive and finally reach his destination in that way must be pure within, clean without.

What do I mean? The Bible has said, without holiness no man shall see the Lord. You cannot patch it, you cannot modernize the biblical holiness, you cannot walk successfully on that way without living in holiness. Holiness of heart and life is the must prerequisite of those pilgrims that will journey on that road.

Although, it’s a straight road but it has some gallops. You will meet persecution as you journey, cruel trials and mocking, rejection, criticism and conspiracy, hatred and reproach, suffering and shame, but he that shall endure to the very end shall be saved. The road may not be smooth, but look at the afterward joy that the overcomers will receive. Praise the LORD I will be an overcomer!

When we finally pass through that straight and narrow way of holiness to the end, we shall meet the LORD at that beautiful gates of pearl beyond the blue. And the Lord Jesus Christ will say unto those overcomers, welcome home!

You’ll look back to all the sorrows, persecution, and sufferings as water that passed under the bridge, and you’ll say it’s gone. You’ll look in front of you, and you’ll see those fair mansions with foundations not made with hand. Oh beloved, why not strive to enter in? Why not say even if I die, heaven, I must get there! Why not say, no matter what I lose, whatever people do or say, I must get to heaven.

Set your affections on things above, and fix your eyes on Jesus, the blest anchor of our soul, He will carry you through. Remember, no man having put his hands to the plough and looking back is fit for the kingdom of God.

Think about it now while still you can, and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.
