Freedom for the oppressed

Freedom for the oppressed

Jesus of Nazareth…healing all who were oppressed by the devil… (Acts 10:38, NKJV).

I was once invited to minister at a campus fellowship. A few days to the programme, I dreamt that I was trying to enter into a particular environment. But I could see a big, scary-looking dog which was going to attack me each time I attempted to go in. I couldn’t do so until the dream was over. The Holy Spirit told me that it had to do with the place where I was to minister. There was a ‘doggy’ spirit I needed to face.

So I prayerfully got ready for the day. The day came and when it was time for my ministration, I was warmly invited to the pulpit. As I stood up to preach, the major question in my mind was “Where is the dog?” the Holy Spirit led me into leading some Christian warfare songs. Ten minutes were gone and I was still asking within me; “Holy Spirit, where is the dog?” Anyway we continued singing.

Suddenly the atmosphere became charged and I could sense it. In a matter of minutes, amidst different manifestations, I noticed that a lady was rolling on the floor, shaking and crying like she was being tortured by some unseen force. She kept shouting: “Fire! Fire! Fire!” and the Holy Spirit told me that that was the dog. I had a leading to pray for her, which I did. After the message, I invited those who wanted to surrender their lives to the Lord Jesus to come forward to the pulpit and she was one of them. Though her clothes were now dirty and rumpled, she didn’t mind.

When I was through I invited her so we could talk. She then revealed to me that it was her grandmother that initiated her into the world of darkness. She was only a very young child then. Since then a terrible spirit of seduction started to operate in her that would seduce men, attract them to her and then, put them in spiritual bondage. Sadly, this demon captured her own father and he had sex with her when she was only four. It was that serious!

I never saw her again since then. But one thing is certain. She had two options on that day. She could choose to surrender her life to Jesus or reject His divine mercy. But disregarding His warnings could be very dangerous for He said in His word: “…anyone who separates himself from Me and sets up his idols in his heart… I will turn against such people and make a terrible example of them, destroying them. Then you will know that I am the LORD” (Ezk. 14:7,8). Reader, if you have sold yourself to the devil in one way or the other, surrender to Jesus today before it gets too late.

Today’s corporate prayer: Lord Jesus, deliver me from all the clutters of wickedness. In Jesus mighty name!
