The word of transformation

The word of transformation

The earth was empty, a formless mass cloaked in darkness. And the Spirit of God was hovering over its surface. Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light (Genesis 1:2,3 NLT).

In the beginning there was chaos. There was nothing but darkness. God’s Spirit hovered over the earth’s surface. Yet nothing happened. Why did nothing happen? The Holy Spirit is not committed to do anything until the Word is spoken. Actually, the Holy Spirit had been waiting for the Word. And so, when God said “Let there be light,” the Holy Spirit sprang into action and almost instantly, there was light.

Perhaps it gets clearer to us now why Jesus urged His disciples to go to every part of the world with the Word. The Holy Spirit hovers over every part of the world. But Christians need to speak the Word to the world so that the Holy Spirit can act upon the word to bring illumination and transformation. If we preach the Word of God, the Holy Spirit is committed to act upon it. If we don’t preach the Word, He has nothing to act upon. Even when we preach, if what we preach is something different from the Word, He’s not under any obligation to act upon it.

Some of us believe so much in prayer that we think prayers alone will get people saved. But prayer only prepares the ground of the heart for the seed of the Word of God. No matter how ready or fertile a soil is, if the seed is not dropped, nothing grows in it. If at all anything grows it would be weeds. As much as prayer is key, the preaching of the Word must be still be added to it to see souls saved. Until we use the opportunities we have to preach the Word, the Father can neither confirm nor glorify His Word.

All Christians are expected and commanded to preach God’s word. It’s the duty of all of us so that hell can be depopulated. The Word can be preached as an individual (e.g. Philip the Evangelist). It can be done as a partnership venture (e.g. Paul and Barnabas – Acts 13:2). It can also be done corporately as a church or an evangelistic organization. There are those who minister to the sick (Hospital Ministry). There are ministries to schools, campuses, orphanages, prisons, and so on.

We can also have street evangelism, bus evangelism, media evangelism and tracts evangelism. Others share the Word of God through music, movies, cartoons and other social network platforms. There is no excuse, not for anyone. Soul winning is the greatest commission and heartbeat of God. The harvest truly is so great but the workers are so few. May the Lord of harvest send forth committed labourers into His harvest. In Jesus awesome name!

Today’s corporate prayer: O Lord make me a transmitter of the Word of life. In the name of Jesus!

Feel free to share.
