DISOBEDIENCE TO PARENTS AND GUIDANCE.
Many are guilty of this. Most youth don’t want to be controlled. They want liberty. Many youth want to please self just like the way Samson disobeyed his parents. Hopni and Phinehas disobeyed Eli.
Some prefer the advice of their friends to that of their parents. Many youth want to belong… They believe their parents are old school. They’ll say prayer is boring.
Their parents taught them to choose children of God as friends but they decided to do otherwise immediately they get to school. Their parents taught them to always go the house of God, but when they get to campus, they won’t.
They were taught to do away with premarital sex, but it has since become their hubby on campus.
Your parents are irreplaceable. Your parents may be harsh, wicked, traditionalist, unbeliever, poor, illiterate, unfriendly. No matter what, your parents will always be your parents.
WHAT TO DO
You are to obey the godly advice or instructions given to you by your parents.
Exodus 20:12 says respect your father and your mother so that you may live a long time in the land that I am giving you.
To respect or honor your parents is to obey them. When you obey them, you will live long.
Genesis 5:21-27 talks about Methuselah and Enoch.
That’s the secret of the long life enjoyed by Methuselah. He allowed Enoch to live in fellowship with God. He never disturbed them. Methuselah gave his father peace of mind. As a result, God rewarded him with long life. God only took him away at 969 years old because flood was starting that same year. Because God wants to destroy the world and He didn’t want Methuselah to witness it, that’s why he took him away just months before the starting of the (rain) flood.
It’s time to make amendment were necessary. it is time to obey your parents. The time to forgive your parents is now.
Did your parents disgrace you in the past?
Did they hurt you in the past?
Did they embarrass you in the past?
Did they maltreat you in the past?
Did they refuse to send you to school?
Did they refuse to care for you?
Did they punish you?
Did they refuse to help you in the past?
Did they reject the lady you introduce to them?
Did they disowned you?
Did they place curse on you?
Did they turn the family to polygamous?
Were you told they were the one behind your problems?
For the sake of heaven, forgive them today.
Have you stopped visiting your parents?
Have you stopped sending money and foodstuffs to your parents?
Have you stopped communicating with them?
Have you stopped greeting them?
Have you stopped assisting them?
Have you stopped bearing their names?
Have you disowned them?
You didn’t read this by chance.
Go and make amendment today!
Allow peace to reign.
Settle all misunderstanding with your parents today and it shall be well with you in Jesus name.
