Unflinching trust

Unflinching trust

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5,6 NLT).

At certain points it is simply difficult to believe that God has not forsaken you. This is when trust comes in. But unfortunately, this is the junction where many give in to ungodly pressures and let God down. Trusting God exalts Him. Trust strengthens our faith. Most of the situations we tag as problems are usually not problems but faith builders.

One way to know if you are losing trust in God is if you now see God as unjust and unfair. Do you realize that God has the right to decide the ‘how’, ‘where’ and ‘when’ of everything in life? You have to come to that reality. But then God is just in all His acts, and you just have to come to terms with that truth. If you don’t lose your trust in Him; by and by He will do what is best for you.

Have you thought about what trust means? It means to have confidence in or reliance on someone’s ability. Trust and faith are actually interwoven. For example, do you know any wife who maintains that she trusts her husband and defends him even in the face of disreputable allegations? That’s trust! Trust can actually be very trying but it doesn’t fail when it is in connection with God.

Trust can take us from the known to the unknown. At times, it could require us to battle with apprehension, suspense, depression, adversity, uncertainty or other forms of unthinkable situations. But amidst these; if you will calm down your spirit; you will hear the voice of the Holy Spirit encouraging and reassuring you that He’s at work in you. Be still and know that I am God… My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure, says the Lord in Psa. 46:10 and Isa. 46:10 (KJV). His counsel is wise and His pleasure is kind. Receive the grace to trust in the Lord. In Jesus name!

Today’s corporate prayer: Lord Jesus, I believe in you. Help me to trust you always. Amen!
