Keeping the gift of God alive in you

Keeping the gift of God alive in youKeeping the gift of God alive in you

2 Timothy 1 : 6

“For this reason I remind you to keep alive the gift that God gave you when I laid my hands on you.”

Here Apostle Paul was admonishing Timothy to keep the gift of God he had received. Many of us have also received one or more gifts from the Holy Spirit.

Some fasted to activate it. Some got theirs after long hours of prayers. For others, it was after studying the Bible. Some received it because they are faithful, loyal, honest, committed and dedicated, giver, punctual, etc.

However, due to several factors, some people’s gifts are already dying. Someone with the gift of messages full of wisdom can no longer give a meaningful message. Someone that was full of faith is now operating in fear, trial and error, doubt and hatred. Someone who had the gift of healing has now realised that that anointing is no longer flowing.

Likewise, someone operating with the gift of working of miracles has allowed the gift to wane. Someone that could discern easily now finds it difficult to differentiate between the Holy Spirit and a demon. To use their gift of diverse tongues is now becoming boring to some Christians.

  • Do you used to feel His presence before but now you feel alone? Does He usually warn you but has now abandoned you? Perhaps you used to sing under the anointing of the Holy Spirit but now you sing in the flesh.
  • You used to see powerful visions and revelations but now all that has gone. You always saw someone (an old man) in the dream teaching and revealing deep and secret things to you but He has now gone on strike.
  • Your own gift is the ability to counsel people but now you are the one that needs serious counselling.
  • Your own gift was to make people around you happy but your presence these days brings unexplainable hatred.

Before now, your love for holiness, righteousness, truthfulness, sincerity, punctuality, giving, peace, unity, God’s will, and the Holy Spirit was second to none. But all those good attributes you were known for have disappeared. You are now the exact opposite of what you used to stand for.

It’s high time you reconnected to the Holy Spirit, the source of your gift. It is time to go back to the secret place. It is time to find your way back to His presence. It is time to start those good things like love, humility, generousity, selfless life, loyalty, sincerity, communion with Holy Spirit, evangelism, devotion, giving, having time for the things of God, being punctual in services, being dedicated and committed, spending time in the prayer room, seeking the face of God with fasting; which you abandoned.

How to revive and keep the gift of God alive

  1. Look for and block those things pulling you away from God such as excessive use of the social media platforms, unnecessary discussions, arguments, your TV, unnecessary phone calls, laziness, unimportant visitations and outings, football, games.

Others include lying, unforgivingness, hatred, malice, bitterness, envy, jealousy, fighting, pride, wickedness, selfishness, greed, worldliness, fraud, stealing, ingratitude, murmuring, complaining, backbiting and hypocrisy.

  1. Rekindle the fire of love, loyalty, sincerity, punctuality in God’s presence, giving, peace, unity, humility, generousity, selflessness and so on.

God will rekindle His fire in you again in Jesus name.
