Lack

LackLack

“…those who trust in the LORD will never lack any good thing” – Psalms. 34:10 (NLT).

As long as we are here, we will always have needs. Each day presents its new needs. Having unmet needs affects one’s state of mind and mounts pressures on individuals and families. A lot of factors are responsible for financial lack in families. While some of them can be controlled, others are beyond human control. Let us consider a few useful ways of preventing or controlling financial crises.

Families need to minimize their spending as much as possible. There are essential needs and those that the family can do without. Apart from house rent, feeding, tithe, transportation to workplace, children’s school fees, caring for aged parents and savings, other expenditures are actually secondary. A few people actually save their house rent and children’s school fees on a monthly basis. So it doesn’t have a huge effect on the family income unlike when ‘pulled out’ at once.

Budgeting also helps to curb financial lack. Without budgeting, avoidable spending is unavoidable. Poor budgeting leads to spending money on non-essentials and having no money left for the essentials. There are people who are excessively materialistic and like to impress others. Infidelity is another thing that drains family finances. When a man has not met his family financial needs, and still spends his money flirting with girl friends, it will definitely make a shipwreck of the family financial life.

There are those who like comparing their financial state with others who are financially stronger. It will lead to lack and frustration. When a spouse is not willing to work so as to support the family financially, it also leads to lack. In a situation where relations, friends or a third party influences the husband or wife wrongly on financial matters, it can also result in poverty.

It’s also important that couples review their financial habits together and check for possible loopholes in the way they handle money.

Above all, we must learn to pay our tithes, give to the needy and develop a great relationship with God who alone gives man the grace to flourish financially. I pray, the Lord will supply all your family needs today. in Jesus name!

Today’s Corporate Prayer: O Lord, have mercy on your afflicted children. Let mercy prevail over judgment. In Jesus mighty name!
