Life’s true way of light
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life (John 8:12, NKJV).
Today there are people who believe that all religions are equal. There are some good things about many religions but Jesus told us certain things about Himself that refute the idea that all faiths are one and same. In our opening text above, He said He is the light of the world. So anyone who does not follow Him shall therefore walk in darkness and lack the light of life.
In Jn. 14:6 (AMP), Jesus also said: “…I am the Way…” Which way did He mean? He meant the way to salvation and to heaven. “…and the Truth…” The Truth here means the reality, not assumption; certainty, not uncertainty. “…and the Life…” This life refers to eternal life with God, not eternal separation from Him. Eternal death is to ‘miss’ God and end up in hell, which was originally prepared for the devil and his emissaries. He concluded that verse by saying: “…no one comes to the Father except by (through) me.”
Jesus was not yet through. He said again: “I am the living bread that came down out of heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will live forever; this bread is my flesh offered so the world may live… I assure you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood you cannot have eternal life within you” (Jn. 6:51,53, NLT).
Beloved friend, the way to eat this living bread today is to receive Jesus into your life. As a matter of fact, I don’t know any other person in history who made the kind of claims that Jesus made. He didn’t say He is a light; He said He is the Light. He didn’t say He is a truth (which might suggest that there are other truths); He said He is the Truth. If there are other ways; He could have said He is a way; but He said He is the Way.
Jesus was definite about Himself. And being the Truth, He has revealed Himself to you so that you don’t fall for a lie. And as the Way, He doesn’t want you to end your life in hell. You can invite Him into your life today. If you do it sincerely, He will honour your invitation and help you as promised.
Today’s Corporate Prayer: “Lord Jesus, I invite you into my life. I receive the eternal life you offer to me. Make me one of your own as from today. In Jesus gracious name!
