Growing daily

Growing daily

Then we will no longer be like children, forever changing our minds about what we believe because someone has told us something different or because someone has cleverly lied to us and made the lie sound like the truth’ (Ephesians 4:14, NLT).

Being a Christian for a long time does not translate into spiritual growth. The Bible admonished us not to be like children in our understanding of spiritual matter. We were told to rather “…hold to the truth in love, becoming more and more in every way like Christ, who is the head of His body, the church (Eph. 4:15, NLT). God’s expectation is that we should continually grow until the image of Christ is formed in us.

To be a baby is delightful, but no one should be a baby forever. No parent is happy when they see that their child is not growing. It’s not different spiritually. Perpetual babyhood is a liability. Everyone knows that a baby would always need to be helped to eat, bathe, use the toilet or put on its clothes. A baby cannot be trusted with any assistance; neither can it be trusted with any serious errands. A baby must be carried from time to time. In short, a baby cannot take charge for itself.

Baby Christians always want someone to pamper them. They always want someone else to deal with the devil for them. They have faith in another person’s faith but have no faith in their own faith. They don’t have any desire to have deeper knowledge of God and His ways. Their prayer life is shallow. So, they always have reasons to cry and be down.

The word of God encourages babies to desire the sincere milk of God’s word, so that they may grow thereby (I Pt. 2:2). So you need to start making out time to study God’s word and developing your prayer life. Spending five minutes on God’s word or praying will not help. You must eat well to grow well. I pray, may God bless our understanding of today’s word. In Jesus name!

Today’s corporate prayer: O Lord, help me to desire, and to constantly feed on your word. Help me to exercise my faith in the same. In Jesus mighty name!
