Consistency
‘But Jesus replied, “My Father never stops working, so why should I?” (John 5:17 NLT).
Since the beginning of time, day and night has not failed. The sun and moon have not faulted in their duties. Oxygen has remained available for our survival. The seasons have been taking their turns without fail, and we can go on and on. The question is, “Why haven’t these things failed since creation?” and the answer is, “It’s because God works till now. And He has never stopped working.” Even when He was here physically, Jesus also worked like His Father. Therefore, as sons and daughters of God, we are not supposed to do differently – especially in our spiritual works.
Sadly, that’s not the case with us. Many of us have lost the fire. So many folks who used to be hot have become cold. Many of us no longer pray the way we used to. We no longer have interest in studying the Word. Even the habit of reading anointed Christian materials is dying among us. Do not even bother to mention fasting at all.
Instead of burning, a lot of lives have gathered spiritual ashes. People who used to be vibrant are now dull due to spiritual slumber. Lack of consistent busyness for the Lord is the bane of today’s Christians.
Because so many of us have gone on spiritual holidays, their fire has gone out. Hence, it has become increasingly difficult to hear God’s voice. If God does not speak to a person who claims to be His child, his fire has gone out. He will also notice a prevalence of darkness around him. At this time, he needs to overpower the flesh through fasting and prayers so as to seek God for mercy and restoration. Only then can he be shaken out of the state of spiritual slumber and dullness.
When we connect to the One who ever works, we get gainfully engaged again. Sin will lose its hold on us. Ignorance of Satan’s strategies and spiritual warfare will clear off. Satanic distractions will be removed and the domination of the flesh will be shattered.
Spiritual dullness will become a thing of the past. A vibrant and aggressive spirit will be resuscitated, all forms of negative dreams will be wiped off and an enabling anointing will be released upon us. I pray; may the fire of spiritual consistency fall on us. In the mighty name of Jesus!
