Nice but condemned

Nice but condemned

“He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten son of God (John 3:18, KJV).”

I came across this and found it thought-provoking. There was a kind-hearted man in town. He was kind to his parents, kind to his children and kind to his friends and neighbours. But he took his wife, whom he had promised to love and cherish, and abused her shamefully and then left her lying half dead on the floor.

He was arrested. Witnesses were called, one hundred of them. They all gave the same testimony. ‘This man’, they said, ‘was kind. He was kind to his father and mother, his sons and daughters. He was kind to his neighbours and friends.’

Finally the judge addressed the court. ‘I am not dealing with this man on the basis of his treatment of others, he said, ‘I am judging him on one point and one point alone: his treatment of his wife. Now tell me, was he kind to his wife?’ There was not a witness. Finally he was condemned and sentenced. Yes, and rightly so, even though his crime was committed against only one person.

Dear reader, do you think you can be kind to the people of this world, and then be unkind to God’s Son and not be guilty? Never! It doesn’t matter what kind of ‘good’ life you live or how you treat your fellow men. If you don’t accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, you have condemned yourself already. You don’t want to do that, do you? I pray; may you not choose destruction over redemption. In Jesus name!

Today’s corporate prayer: O Lord, empower your word to destroy every satanic veil preventing lost souls from seeing the light of the gospel. In Jesus mighty name!
