Passing your test

Passing your test

And do not lead us into temptation…” (Mathew 6:13, NKJV)

We already learnt that temptation comes in two forms. It could come as a trap or training. The type which comes as a trap comes from the devil and the ‘training’ type is from God. While the former is to destroy a person, the latter is to test and promote him. Today we want to look deeper into the training type.

When God told Abraham to sacrifice Isaac his son, it was a test that directly came from God, not from the devil. In Matthew 4:1,Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil’ (NKJV).Who led Jesus there? God! To be tempted by who? The devil! In Job 2:6 (NLT), we read about what God told Satan concerning Job: ‘All right, do with him as you please…But spare his life.’

In all the instances above, we see how God tested his children or allowed them to be tempted. But He neither tested nor allowed the tests just to punish or inflict pain on his children. His tests come to instill spiritual stamina in his own, and then promote them. That’s why He upholds them so that no matter the level of their trial, it doesn’t destroy them. It rather turns things around for good and strengthens their faith in God.

So plan regular, quality time with God so that you can receive the needed strength and courage to scale through your circumstances to your next phase of glory. Mind you, quitting is not even an option. I pray; receive divine grace to hold on to God tenaciously. In Jesus name!

Today’s corporate prayer: Invisible hand of darkness; refusing my total liberty, wither today. In Jesus mighty name!
