Praying or Playing?

Praying or Playing? Praying or Playing?

“Pray without ceasing” (I Thesalonians 5:17, KJV)

Some versions’ renditions of today’s Bible verse are quite interesting. For example, NLT says: ‘keep on praying’. NIV says ‘pray continually’. MSB puts it as ‘pray all the time’ while RSV says ‘pray constantly’. All of them are saying the same thing in different ways and their emphasis is on the importance of prayer.

Prayer is the gateway to God’s presence. It is the greatest privilege of the saved soul. It is the greatest force on the earth. Prayer brings divine intervention into earthly situations. In fact, prayer is the thermometer by which the spiritual temperature of any Christian is measured.

Prayer brings strength to the weak, provisions to the poor, healing to the sick, salvation to the lost and illumination into dark situations. Prayer affects both time and eternity. If you don’t pray like you should, you may not have experienced what it means to say prayer is the deepest expression of the soul to God.

To experience the joy and the power of prayer, you must join the students of the ‘school’ of prayer. Every Christian is invited for ‘admission’. How does one learn to pray? We learn to pray by praying, but more so, praying the word of God. To pray effectively, one’s understanding of the word of God must be profound. So start taking the word of God and prayers more seriously, and don’t stop until your prayers produce the desired results.

Today’s corporate prayer: O Lord, increase the prayer strength of Your children worldwide. In Jesus name!
