The thirst and hunger for holiness

The thirst and hunger for holinessThe thirst and hunger for holiness

Mathew 5:6 “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.”

The pursuit to attain holiness is a determination engineered by hunger. As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul, my heart after holiness God. You know when you are hungry, nothing matters to you until you have satisfied your appetite.

So also, if you you desire attaining holiness and sanctification, you must be hungry, and prayerful without relenting. The Bible says “ask and it shall be given to you, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened.” The reason why holiness revival tarries, is because there is no hunger in our souls.

Apostle Paul said, “my heart desire for Israel is that they might be saved.” Elijah too was a man subject to like passion as we are, and he prayed earnestly. Should we not be moved by their zeal toward God to press until we attain holiness?

This is the time to push aside everything that is an impediment and an obstacle in your way, and cry for holiness. It is not desiring it to do showman, but that the foundations and the gates of hell might be shaken. And even when the accuser of the brethren, the prince of this earth cometh, he shall not find nothing against you – it’s either holiness or nothing else. Calvary has purchased it already, and God is willing to make us holy if only we are consecrated to receive it.

There is a call from heaven to return to the holy ways of our fathers. Like Enoch, Joseph, Daniel, John the beloved, Stephen, Paul etc. These are men subject to like passion as we are, and if they could live holy lives by the grace of God in them, that grace of God is still available. God has not changed, and he is still able to do exceeding abundantly unto all that will call upon him.

We can decide to lead holy lives and the grace of God will sustain us. Choose you this day your desire, your passion, your thirst, and your hunger. But as for me, my soul, heart, my life, and everything else thirst for holiness without which no man shall see the Lord.
